The 2019 Genesis G70 is a sporty, dynamic, performance-oriented luxury compact sedan, although at first glance it could almost be mistaken for a coupe. It's a model aimed at taking on some pretty big-name rivals, but a 2019 Genesis G70 from a dealership like the Conshohocken Genesis dealer does things in a more affordable and accessible way without sacrificing quality, performance or any of the standard features buyers in this segment expect and demand.

One of those renowned competitors, and also a relatively recent arrival on the market, is the Audi S5. Let's compare these two rivals and see if a 2019 Audi A5 or a 2019 Genesis G70 from a dealer like Conshohocken Genesis is the better buy.

Price
Buyers can get into a new 2019 Genesis G70 with an MSRP that starts at $34,900. The 2019 Audi S5 starts at $52,400, which is a difference of $17,900. Of course, the S5 has a standard V6 and the entry-level G70 is a turbo-four, but even the more powerful Genesis 3.3T Advanced with its V6 engine is less expensive than its Audi equivalent. A G70 3.3T Advanced has an MSRP of $43,750, a $9,000 savings over the S5's base Premium Plus trim.

Powertrains
Right from the start, the 2019 Genesis G70 has an advantage over the 2019 Audi S5 in the powertrain stakes as the Genesis offers buyers a choice of engine, whereas the Audi doesn't. The standard powerplant in the G70 is a powerful and fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbo-four developing 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque with the eight-speed automatic transmission, or 255 horsepower with the six-speed manual.  The more powerful engine is a 3.3-liter V6 turbo offering 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque with the standard eight-speed auto. The Audi is certainly no slouch with its standard V6, but its 349 hp and 369 lb.-ft. still falls short of the 2019 Genesis G70.

Styling
Looks aren't everything, but they certainly count for a lot with this car class. The 2019 Genesis G70 has an aggressive, purposeful and unashamedly sporty exterior, but there's also a strong premium feel across every part of the car. There are gaping air intakes, a low front bumper and a large grille which all hint heavily at the car's performance, but nothing is too overt to detract from the luxury nature of this impressive vehicle. The Audi S5 is also a very attractive car, but while the Genesis G70 is a standout model in the Genesis family the Audi looks a lot like many other Audis, and not particularly special.

Features
German cars like the 2019 Audi S5 have more standard equipment and features than they used to, but much of the best kit is either reserved for top trim levels or costs extra, such as Audi's digital Virtual Cockpit. On the other hand, the 2019 Genesis G70 is positively bristling with standard features. V6 models even come with a limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, variable-ratio steering, 19-inch alloy wheels, full leather upholstery and a top-of-the-line infotainment system.

Our Conclusion
Audi makes excellent cars and the 2019 Audi S5 definitely in that category. Some buyers may like the badge on the Audi, but when it becomes clear the badge delivers fewer standard features, less power and derivative styling for a whole lot more money than the Genesis G70, it starts to look a lot less attractive.
