The G70 is a small sedan, with looks that might make it seem like a coupe. The G70 is poised to take on some serious competition from European, Japanese and American marques. When you check out the Genesis G70 at a dealership like the Wayne Genesis dealer, you'll be treated by all the amenities you'd expect from a car of this class, with a price tag that's a lot less than its competitors.

Buyers looking for a luxury coupe may be considering the Cadillac ATS. If you're in the market for a luxury sedan or coupe and you've been thinking about buying either of these two cars, read on as we compare them head to head.

The 2019 Genesis G70 has a starting manufacturer's retail price (MSRP) of $34,900. The 2019 Cadillac ATS has an MSRP that starts at $38,995. So, Genesis buyers will be able to keep a fair amount of money in their wallets. Readers should be aware that the MSRP isn't the price you'll pay at Wayne Genesis or another dealer. We use the figures here to compare the two cars.

Both the Genesis G70 and the Cadillac ATS have two engine choices. While the ATS's base four-cylinder engine is slightly more powerful than the one found in the G70, the Cadillac's V6 is overshadowed by G70's V6. The Genesis G70 has an available 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that generates 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque, mated to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. Rear-wheel drive models are eligible for an available six-speed manual gearbox. The Cadillac ATS has an optional 3.6-liter V6 engine that only puts out 335 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque, teamed to an eight-speed automatic. Driving enthusiasts can't get the ATS's V6 with a manual transmission.

Passenger Space

The 2019 Genesis G70 has plenty of room for passengers to stretch out, with a total of 94 cubic feet of space. The Cadillac ATS only provides 91 cubic feet. Reviewers have remarked that the ATS's back seat feels cramped.

The G70 includes a hands-free trunk. When you need to open the trunk while carrying a load of groceries, G70 drivers simply wait behind the back bumper for a moment and the trunk opens automatically. You won't find a hands-free trunk feature on the ATS.

With the best warranty in the automotive business, no other vehicle's warranty can touch the 2019 Genesis G70. The G70 comes with a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty that covers the entire car and also includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 2019 Cadillac ATS only gets a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty. Genesis' powertrain warranty is good for 10 years or 100,000 miles, while the ATS's powertrain warranty is just 6 years or 70,000 miles. Finally, the G70 has a 7-year corrosion warranty, while the ATS only gets a 6-year corrosion warranty.

Our Conclusion

Cadillac manufactures high-quality vehicles, and the ATS is a fine car. But when you compare it with the 2019 Genesis G70 in important areas such as price, powertrains, passenger space and warranty, the G70 has the upper hand.
