The 2020 Genesis G70 is a luxury sport sedan that provides a sophisticated interior, a comfortable ride, and the latest technology and driver-assistance features. And the G70 accomplishes this with a price tag that's a lot less than its Japanese and European competitors. Buyers at dealerships like the Gladwyne Genesis dealer appreciate the G70's perfect combination of luxury and performance.

The 2020 BMW 3 Series is a luxury sedan that competes with the 2020 Genesis G70. We'll examine the two vehicles side by side and discover which one is the best buy.

The 2020 Genesis G70 costs less than the 2020 BMW 3 Series. The G70 has a starting Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $35,450 at the Gladwyne Genesis dealership. Compare this with the $40,750 starting MSRP of the 2020 BMW 3 Series and it's easy to see that the G70 is a much better value.

The Genesis G70 and the BMW 3 Series both have two engines to choose from. The base engines of both vehicles are nearly evenly matched. While the G70 and the 3 Series each get a base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the BMW 3 Series has a slight edge here. But move up to the available engines and the G70 is the winner, with a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged engine that develops 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. The 3 Series' optional 3.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine puts out more horsepower (382 hp) than the G70, but this unit only makes 369 lb-ft of torque. As we know, torque measures the power available to spin the wheels.

The folks at Cars.com tested a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T AWD against a 2019 330i AWD. Although these are the previous year's models, they have the same engines as last year and are essentially the same vehicles as their 2020 counterparts. The G70 made it from zero to 60 mph in 4.81 seconds, while the BMW took 5.59 seconds to make the trip.

G70 buyers can choose between two transmission options: an eight-speed automatic and a six-speed manual. Driving enthusiasts looking for a luxury sport sedan with a manual transmission will have to forego the BMW 3 Series, as it's only available with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Both of these vehicles provide excellent impact protection. But the 2020 Genesis G70 comes standard with more driver-assistance technologies, including blind-spot warning, driver attention warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. If you'd like these valuable safety features on the 2020 BMW 3 Series, you must buy an option package.

The 2020 Genesis 70 will enable you to drive with more peace of mind. Buyers will enjoy a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The BMW 3 Series only gets a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a 4-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.

While the 2020 BMW 3 Series is unquestionably a good car, it's surpassed by the 2020 Genesis G70. The G70 is more affordable, has an optional manual transmission, and gets a longer list of standard safety features. For these reasons, we declare the 2020 Genesis G70 the winner of this head-to-head competition.
